Company’s Profile
Eecol Electric Argentina S.A., the local branch of Canadian Eecol Electric, distributes electrical conductors, lighting systems, automation and monitoring systems, and low and medium voltage equipment for industries in the manufacturing, oil, gas, and mining sectors.
The headquarters are in Buenos Aires where the stock has been centralized. It also has branches in San Juan, Bahía Blanca, Mendoza, Neuquén, and Comodoro Rivadavia.
Case Analysis
During recent years, this firm experienced significant growth and had difficulties implementing internal controls. Their accounting system was outdated and not user-friendly.
They did not have management software; data and information were stored manually.  As a result, the company’s human resources wasted enormous amounts of time. Not having integrated results and access to the information in real time, caused significant delays in the accounting department and serious internal control problems. It also prevented other company areas from growing.
Solution / Implementation
The company’s steady growth had to be matched by a customization and update of the systems and technology.
Eecol needed to implement more thorough controls of the stock and human resources, and to generate reports from all branches to gain competitiveness in the market. They needed a solutions platform to help optimize resources and improve information management.
By the end of 2005, they started the selection of management software providers. In early 2006, they selected NeuralSoft technology platform, with ERP, CRM, Workflow, and Business Intelligence Solutions under the ASP model.
Implementation started in January 2006 and lasted 10 months until final activation in October. Bearing in mind that implementation of new software involved a culture change, all company areas participated in the training. All employees, with certain position related restrictions, have access to the system.

This implementation made it easier and improved the generation of reports, charts, and queries, offering greater computer security.

Furthermore, the company was able to create integrated and detailed reports helping it reach the standards of ISO certification by the Argentine Institute of Standardization and Certification (IRAM, by its Spanish acronym). This makes it possible for Eecol to service large companies which demand certification quality standards.
Currently, they are contemplating the possibility of including charts with information about management, finances, sales, costs, and purchases.

Search times and stock controls were also optimized. Communications are more efficient and fluid with the branches in other countries, such as Canada, where the headquarters are located. They are considering sharing the benefits of NeuralSoft software with other branches in Latin America (Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and Venezuela).
This system handles the accounting and optimizes the processes in every section. These benefits contributed to the growth of Eecol Electric Argentina, which by the end of 2007 had a 60% increase in sales.
